Taupo District Council welcomes your participation in the search for a sustainable design solution for development of ‘Victoria Lot 60’; a 1.9ha Greenfield site on the eastern slopes of Taupo town. An exciting opportunity exists to design the site incorporating advanced urban design principles and techniques. Taupo District Council is looking for an inspiring, innovative and practical design for the future development of Victoria Lot 60 and in return for this design is offering the opportunity for one Entrant’s vision to guide the future development of this exciting subdivision within the Taupo District.

Taupo District Council wishes to lead the way in urban design setting a high standard for private development in Taupo by creating sustainable housing solutions to successfully accommodate the future growth of the town.

The competition objective is to stimulate imaginative and viable urban design proposals that challenge the traditional nature of subdivision development in Taupo while seeking to fit within the context of the existing residential form and environment. The designs need to capture a sense of what Taupo is now and what is appropriate development for the town in the 21st century. Council is committed to developing Victoria Lot 60 on this basis.
